The municipality of Hof van Twente has much to offer. A beautiful scenic landscape, distinctive estates, vibrant events and characteristic villages and towns.
Markelo
One of the oldest villages in Twente. The landscape is characterized by strikingly sloping ashes. These five hills lend themselves perfectly to beautiful walking, cycling and riding routes. Markelo has a cozy village center with a Romanesque church in the middle. The Buursink mill has been restored and is a feast for the eyes. So is the market, with lots of vegetables a meat, fresh from the farm.
Markelo ... the village of the five hills
Absolutely worthwhile is walking route 'Twentse Wallen Markelo' the most beautiful walking route of 2018. For mountain bikers Markelo is a real Valhalla and if you like art, follow the Bench Route Markelo or the Art Route Markelo once.
Delden
Increasingly, visitors appreciate Delden as one of the most charming towns in Eastern Netherlands. The atmospheric streets with quaint stores, galleries and the old market square with its monumental water pump. Much of the town center dates back to 1333, the year Delden received city rights. Many atmospheric buildings have been skillfully restored. Everywhere in Delden you can feel the connection with the Twickel Estate. Be sure to visit the regional market!
Diepenheim
With almost 2700 inhabitants, Diepenheim is the smallest town in Hof van Twente. In Diepenheim, affectionately known as 'the stedeke', art and culture are inextricably linked. As a center of visual arts, Diepenheim is an international concept. Here you will find a large number of galleries, museums, studios and venues together.
Goor
A joke about the city name Goor, has been thought of many times but still conjures a smile on many faces. And just that happy, suits Goor well. This little town is bursting with activities related to music and merriment. The cozy shopping street through Goor is a great place to relax on terraces and at eateries. With a little luck you will find live music there.
Bentelo
Small but versatile. A church village with 1500 inhabitants has something for everyone. In Bentelo, for example, you can find birds and fish of all shapes and sizes at the Other Life on Hagmolenweg . In the adjacent 'Delicious Living Room, it is good food. You can taste wine at the Netherlands' largest winery and vineyard Hof van Twente. Fresh meat from our own stables can be tasted at meat farm Kleinsman. Children have a great time (indoors and outdoors) at petting zoo 't Hofke.
Hengevelde
Enterprising and green. The village is best known for its annual summer festivals. Iconic is the church in the heart of the village surrounded by a good bakery, butcher and supermarket as well as a homely hotel, good bistro and eatery.
