Despite the shallow depth of about 1.5 meters, many fish species are found in the Schipbeek, thanks in part to the various fish passages. Fortunately, the entire brook is easily accessible and accessible, so there is always a suitable fishing spot to find.
With a fixed pole you can catch species such as roach, bream and bindweed, especially in summer. At a stone's throw from the Kattenberse Hoeve estate, you can catch big tench. In places with less vegetation you can also fish well with a light feeder rod. More towards the IJssel near Bathmen and Deventer you can catch the biggest roach and bream. In Bathmen there is even a disabled fishing pier with good wheelchair access.
Pike from 60 to 80 cm
For strolling pike anglers the Schipbeek is a true paradise. Pike of 60 to 80 cm are good to catch and 'magic meters' sometimes occur. Good lures for the Schipbeek are shallow running lures such as 'old-fashioned' spinners, spinnerbaits fished above the plants, rattle plugs and small swimbaits and jerkbaits. Try casting even smaller spinners or crankbaits, because there is a good chance that you will encounter a school of bass up to 30 cm.
Zandvang near Diepenheim
If you like static carp fishing, the Zandvang near Diepenheim is a must. Night fishing is allowed, but check the VISplanner for conditions. If you prefer to fish with a bread crust on the surface or with a pen rod, try spots near bridges and water mills. Catches of nice healthy fish from 30 to 35 pounds are no exception in the Schipbeek!
